She writes about Louis Zamperini, whose running took him from being a delinquent through college and onto the Olympics. His running career, however, was cut short when WWII came along. He was lost at sea and was a POW, but he survived. While not specifically about running, it is the story of one tough runner. I also enjoyed Scott Jurek's book, but maybe because he and I are from the same area of MN and have some friends in common. I look at all that he has accomplished and think he is just a guy from northern MN, whose love of running has allowed him to have some awesome exoeriences. The book also has the vegetarian chilli recipe from my favorite brewpub in Duluth - that doesn't hurt. By the way, heard about your blog from 3NJ. I have enjoyed reading your posts. Everything to know about what are the key elements of a training program and what benefit you derive from each of them is laid out simply.and then put together into a training plan. It's been my bible of marathon training for many years , and with.just a few can be adapted to other distances easily once you understand what each type of workout stimulates.Harmoni Massagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18044474642113954221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376658065276829001.post-24278790038999203022012-09-06T21:16:38.621-07:002012-09-06T21:16:38.621-07:00I like, "The memory of running," which i...I like, "The memory of running," which isn't really about running though it does have the word in the title.Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12527301332460893755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376658065276829001.post-71761753909946951672012-09-06T20:16:32.859-07:002012-09-06T20:16:32.859-07:00I have to say Born to Run is my favorite but anoth...I have to say Born to Run is my favorite but another book I believe will help runners is Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Weston Price.
it's a book looking at the nourishing traditions of indigenous cultures throughout the world. A eye opening study.
it's the piece that I've found very useful in bringing former runners back to being runners again. thanks Dax!

Ralph Havensralph havenshttp://www.missionhillspt.com/blognoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376658065276829001.post-49329373978899368892012-09-06T20:11:48.596-07:002012-09-06T20:11:48.596-07:00Running with the Buffalos...amazing book about the...Running with the Buffalos...amazing book about the 1997 CU cross country team. I've only been at at it for 18mths but went from unable to run a mile to completeing ever event I've entered...5 full marathons, few halfs, 6 10ks and about a dozen 5ks. The interesting fact is my first event was the Black Hills marathon...no 5k 10k or half! Love the book for the story, the science and the history.Larry@starterreport.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376658065276829001.post-39968836086521061732012-09-06T17:04:32.269-07:002012-09-06T17:04:32.269-07:00Yea Running! Yea Books, Bitch!

Thanks for the heads up on Wild, it's on it's way from Amazon right now.

Favorite running books so far was probably Once a Runner, but the science geek inside of me liked Why We Run too. There are plenty of others I've enjoyed but Once a Runner always stands out for me.
